- The PowerAlbum employs the metaphor of a picture album. Each page
- holds up to 12 miniature representations, "thumbnail images," of
- graphic files stored in directories on your CD ROM. The images
- are grouped in categories; you can see two pages of a category at a
- time. This document provides the basic procedures to follow when
- using PowerAlbum to choose ClickArt for a document.
-
- ImagePak Album Directory Information on your Incredible Image Pak CD,
- there are several directories and files:
- *ImagePak.alb: contains files for your image catalog (or "album").
- The album files allow to view and use your ClickArt images.
- Before you use your album, you MUST run SETUP.EXE located in the
- Setup directory. (See Installing your ImagePak Album.)
- *ImagePak: your .CGM ClickArt images are located in this directory.
- Within this directory are subdirectories where the images are stored.
- The subdirectories are divided into different categories.
- *CA Export: contains the ClickArt Image Exporter and libraries. These
- files are needed to export to different file formats other than CGM.
- See About ClickArt Image Exporter documentation included with this
- package.
- *Fonts: contains your TrueType fonts.
- *Setup: contains the PowerAlbum setup program to load onto your
- hard drive.
- *CA Demo: contains a ClickArt demo providing you with a self
- running demonstration of all the different ClickArt products and
- how ClickArt can enhance you documentations.

- program files and filters will be installed into your Windows
- directory. PowerAlbum is installed, the Personlize PowerAlbum
- window comes up where you can type your name and company name.
- You will only need to type this information once. When the installation
- is complete a dialog box will come up with a message that the setup is
- complete. Click OK and you are now ready to use the PowerAlbum program.
-

- Setup window appears.

- you can use the PowerAlbum from either your hard drive or the CD disk.
-
-
- Using Your PowerAlbum with Your Incredible Image Pak Images
- 1.Open PowerAlbum or Double-click the PowerAlbum icon. This will
- launch the PowerAlbum program. To open the ImagePak Album,
- choose Open from the File menu.
-
- Find the picture you want to use.
- There are two ways you can search for a picture.
- 1.Flip through the pages of the album, much in the manner you
- would through a real photo album. You can browse page-by-page, or
- jump to a different category by clicking its tab.
- 2.Use the Find command to search for pictures with a particular
- description, filename, or file type. The pictures in your album
- have descriptions. When using the Find command, you tell PowerAlbum
- to search for pictures whose descriptions or filenames include a key
- word, part of a word, or sequence of characters. For example, you can
- search for all the pictures whose descriptions include the word "autumn."
- This search may turn up pictures with descriptions such as Tree, Oak,
- Fall, Outdoors, Leaves, Holiday, Season. You may also find pictures
- with filenames such as Acorn.CGM, Autumn.CGM Leaves.CGM, Maplelf.CGM,
- Turkey02.CGM, October1.CGM.
-
- To use the Find command, choose Find from the Edit menu, then
- enter the word you want to key the search. You can choose to
- execute the command one of two ways.
- *Click Find Next and PowerAlbum moves to the page where it finds
- the first picture that matches your search. It selects the picture
- and moves the Find dialog box so you can see the picture. If this
- is the picture you want, close the dialog box by choosing Cancel.
- If not, continue the search by choosing Find Next.
- *Click Find All and PowerAlbum copies each picture it finds that
- matches your search into a new category called "Found." The found
- pictures also remain in their original place in the album. You can
- use this method to create new categories by renaming the "Found"
- category. Switch to the application where you want to use the picture
- and paste it into the proper location. If you plan on using more
- pictures, you can leave PowerAlbum open and simply minimize its window.
- Or, you can close PowerAlbum altogether. You can place the picture you
- selected into any document in an application that lets you paste
- pictures from the Clipboard.
-
- When you are all done, close PowerAlbum. To close PowerAlbum,
- choose Exit from the File menu. If you made any changes to the open
- album and have not saved them, PowerAlbum will prompt you to save or
- discard the changes. Note: If your ImagePak Album is located on your
- CD disk, you will not be able to save any changes that you have made
- to the album. You can save the ImagePak Album to a subdirectory on your
- hard drive and save any changes to your album to that subdirectory. If
- you use the Save As to save your PowerAlbum to your hard drive, the
- PowerAlbum will lose the link to any of the images on the CD. When
- either previewing an image or copying an image, a dialog box will
- come up asking if you want to search for the image. Choose Search
- and the PowerAlbum will search for the image. To avoid this, refer
- to To install the PowerAlbum on your hard drive in the documentation
- before you use your PowerAlbum.
